I’d never heard about Vilanova i la Geltrú until I had the chance to go there on holidays. Its location between Barcelona and Tarragona was probably the only reason why I considered going there. However, it turned out to be a lot more interesting than I had expected. The Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer, founded in 1884, was a really nice surprise. It was specifically designed and built as a library and a museum, which was rather unusual in those days. Although it cannot compete with the museums in Barcelona or Tarragona, it includes a huge collection of 18th and 19th century books and other publications as well as ethnographical and art collections.
