Open House Dublin 2014

The 9th Open House Dublin event took place last weekend. Although many of the buildings cannot be visited on any other occasion (e.g. Airbnb European HQ or the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation), many others can be seen any other day without queuing for 40 minutes to get inside. I am more interested in history than architecture and so my priorities were the older building or those that cannot be visited at any other time. This year I only managed to visit the Iveagh Trust Museum Flat, the Tailors’ Hall (the oldest surviving Guildhall in Dublin), King’s Inns and the Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation. However, I’m definitely going to see a few others in the coming weeks or months.

The pictures were taken in the following places:
The Iveagh Trust Museum Flat
The Back Lane, Dublin 8
The Tailors’ Hall
The King’s Inn
The Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation.

Ardgillian Castle

I’ve been living in Balbriggan for nearly 6 months, but it wasn’t until last Saturday that I finally visited Ardgillian Castle and Demesne. Although I didn’t manage to get into the house on that day, it was lovely to wander around the gardens and the park.
