A couple of weeks ago a friend and I decided to go hiking to the Mourne Mountains. These pictures were taken from the top of Slieve Donard. Slieve Donard is an 850-metre high mountain in County Down, it is the highest peak in Northern Ireland and in the province of Ulster.

Carlingford – Chapter 2
This set of pictures is supposed to show Carlingford and its surroundings instead of concentrating on historical buildings. However, I believe that two of the images require a little explanation.
The first one is the picture of Taaffe’s Castle. According to local belief this fortified town house belonged to the rich mercantile Taaffe family who became Earls of Carlingford in 1661. There is, however, not much evidence to support this belief.
The second one is the picture of Thomas D’Arcy McGee’s monument. Although Thomas D’Arcy McGee was born in Carlingford, he is much more well-known across the Atlantic where he helped to create the country we know as “Canada” in 1867.
